This hotel was chosen due to its proximity to the Munich Opera House. More generally it is a short walk from many of Munich's iconic locations. The room included a conservatory-like extension which functioned as an extremely well-appointed sitting room ( including two pieces of classical sculpture) overlooking the small hotel garden in which breakfast could be taken. That breakfast was extremely well presented and tasted as good as it looked. All the staff were friendly and very helpful - seemingly always smiling. Near the hotel there is a selection of cafes and restaurants including the Gandl which belongs to the hotel. This traveller seemed to have encountered a problem in almost not having sufficient cash to pay for dinner at the Gandl which does not accept credit cards. This issue was speedily resolved when it was realised that as a resident of Hotel Opera the cost could be added to the room bill. This is the hotel which I will henceforth use when travelling to Munich. Noting that this traveller first visited Munich in 1973 it is apparent that it has taken some time to find this hotel. However it was worth the wait.
